ANNA BACKMAN ROGERS is a Senior Lecturer in Feminism and Visual Culture at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. She is the author of American Independent Cinema: Rites of Passage and the Crisis-Image and Sofia Coppola: The Politics of Visual Pleasure. She is currently working on a poetry anthology entitled Silver Screen/Dead Time about the female body in popular culture and a book on Simone de Beauvoir and Film entitled A Cinema of Ambiguity. She is the co-founder and editor in chief of MAI: A JOURNAL OF FEMINISM AND VISUAL CULTURE. Her poetry has been published in Tears in The Fence, Lune, Amberflora and Occulum.
