Sad owls lick their melting ice cream cone hearts and cry slivered almond tears. River horses with mouths full of stones spit stars into puddles of pixelated rainbows. Hungry sparrows eat shadows and fireflies, exhaling incandescent strings of dreams that pop and fizzle like sparklers. Waking hungry, the wild animal in you feasts on middle-of-the-night pie, cherry bleeding across the plate as you remember lakewater toes and flasks of sunshine.
